There are 3 search methods
1 – site wide search
2 – section specific search
3 – tag clouds
Site wide search – located consistently in the top right hand corner across all pages of the site.
The results from this search are based on ALL matches against body copy text or specific tags regardless of where they are on the site.
Section specific
search – to refine your search identify the most appropriate section you
would like your results to come from and use the individual section to search
Tag clouds –
Alternatively the site displays tag clouds for each of the key sections.
What are Tag clouds?
The standard search tool is reliant on you choosing / guessing words or phrases that match information that has been added to the site; whereas the Tag Cloud tells you what are the more popular terms that members are using to ‘Tag’ their content with.
Tag clouds only
list and search on the specific words that have been added as ‘tags’ and so the
results can be more targeted.
If someone hasn’t added a word tag to something they’ve posted on the site
it’ll never appear in the Tag cloud results.
When posting something to the site add some key words to explain what you have loaded – Remember to include a comma between each word ie. ‘pet, bird, parrot, african grey, feathers’ might refer to the following image
As the number of postings that include the same terms increase they will start to appear in the Tag cloud.
